How to Save Money and Raise a Baby

If your belly is really starting to get big, that means that the baby is just around the corner and you are due to give birth soon. I really hope that you are prepared. If you are not, then you are in luck, because you have the internet to help you. The first thing that comes to mind when you start thinking about a baby is how much money will it all cost, but it doesn’t have to be like that. You are probably bombarded from every angle with information about the best equipment, the most expensive diapers and a high-priced formula.

When we take into consideration that not all of us are born wealthy and we actually have to work for a living, we come to a conclusion that we have to feed and make that baby happy on a modest salary. So, how can you do that? Well, it is actually quite easy, and you already have everything that is necessary – your family and friends.

Don’t Overbuy

First of all, you have to know that babies grow up fast, and that you do not need to spend a lot of money on stuff that they will quickly overgrow. If anyone offers any used wardrobe, that their children are not using anymore – accept it. It is a nice gesture, and it will also save you a lot of money. It is also some sort of tradition that mothers give their children’s clothes to other pregnant women, and that is a really nice gesture at that. One day, it will also help your other pregnant friends when they are expecting. You should also visit some second hand shops that are specialized in selling baby clothes and equipment. You will need to find clothes that are in excellent condition, so you can even look it up online. If you manage to control yourself and rely on an economical traveling setup like the ones you can find at WorldEscape, you can afford to give your child his/her first vacation.

Don’t Go Impulsive

Do not panic, and try and think clearly. You do not need everything that comes to your mind -especially avoid impulse purchases when you visit department stores. Again, you need to think clearly, and that is why you should make a shopping list at home, with the help of your spouse. When it comes to cribs, strollers, special car seats, make sure to find the one that will suit your wallet, but also that will be safe and comfortable for the baby. You do not want your baby to sleep on a hard mattress, or just imagine how much you will worry if there is even the smallest chance of your baby getting its head stuck between the bars.

Day-To-Day Expenses

Food is also important, and that is why we recommend a way that is practically free – breastfeeding. Some women decide to go for a formula instead but breastfeeding is healthier and less expensive. Another big waste of money is constantly buying diapers, and this is why you should think about using cloth diapers. When it comes to hygiene, it is all the same, but cloth diapers are reusable – you’ll just need to wash them on a high temperature in the washing machine – plus, they are also eco-friendly.

Of course, it does not mean that you should save up money everywhere you turn. You should buy a few high quality items that you will one day be able to give to someone, or even use them for your grandchildren. When buying stuff, make sure that you buy a few sizes larger clothes, and choose colors that are gender neutral, as you never know when you might decide to have another child. You will also want clothes that are practical and that can be changed quickly when you need to clean your baby and change its diapers.

You alone can determine how much money you are able and willing to spend. Remember that your child really does not care about what it is wearing, as long as it is comfortable, so you do not need to buy expensive brands, just make sure that whatever you do buy is practical. Having a baby can be expensive, but it is also one of the greatest joys in life, so do not cut down on the love, hugs and kisses.
