How to Creatively Repurpose Used Golf Balls?

Golf balls are used for one thing and one thing only, right? Well, wrong. Aside from playing the noble game of golf, these balls can have a lot of other purposes, only if you get creative enough.

While they seem virtually indestructible (if you have ever held a golf ball in your hand, you could see that they seem really hard and durable), they can get seriously damaged on the course, during play. They can get dented or torn, the sand can also affect them and so, after a while, it would seem that the only thing that you can do is to throw them away. But the question is: “Do you really have to throw them away?”

The answer is that there is no need for the balls to end their life cycle here. If you were wondering what else can be done with these, here are 6 ideas that you can use if you have a lot of used golf balls lying around or you really love these cool white spheres.

Adorn your garden

The garden is a place where you can experiment with various ideas and use rather unorthodox ways to adorn it. The DIY aspect here is of vital importance and the more creative you are, the better it will look. Golf balls can find many uses in the garden, from edging your plants to making sculptures using multiple balls, hot glue and some paint. It is also very useful to fill the flower pots’ bottom with these balls and add soil over them. Due to their dimpled shape, they will provide an ingenious drain for the excess water, while avoiding root rot.

Bird house

Some people are craftier and like to create more complex things for the garden. So, it is possible to create even more complicated things than garden sculptures, like a bird house. All it takes are a few golf balls and a little time every week and you will get a white bird house that will look interesting and fascinating, because it will surely be one of a kind. Being that they are white, it will surely attract a lot of birds from the neighborhood; so, make sure to keep the bowl full.

Fill your vase for an interesting look

Want to add an interesting detail to your living or dining room? You can always use your vases and, if you have golf balls lying around (especially those colored ones, used for mini golf games), you can fill them with the balls and add a more colorful nature to these rooms. Should you only have white balls, you can always paint them. If you ever feel like playing more golf, you can always take them out. So, think of this as a more creative way to store your balls.

Animal crafting

If you are trying to think about a gift to give at the upcoming birthday party, and you know that the person celebrating loves golf, you can always look to the golf balls for a solution. By using some hot glue, a few golf balls and some other crafting accessories, you can create beautiful little sculptures of animals (people prefer to make dogs, but anything is possible). Who knows, you might even like it so much that you start doing that on a daily basis.

Wall art

One of the things that you can always do is to take a bunch of golf balls, put them in a large frame or on a cool background, spray some paint over them and hang that on the wall. The forms and shapes that you can take depend solely on your creativity. If you have balls from different manufacturers, you can combine the different inscriptions to even form a message. It’s all up to you.

Use them to block the drain

Have you lost the drain plug for your bathtub or sink and you need to fill it up with water (for whatever purposes)? It would take a long time to think about a suitable replacement and a golf ball would surely not occur in your mind. However, they are possibly the best solution for this. Not only that it usually fits the drains perfectly and allows no water to pass, should it happen that the ball is moved from the drain, it will just slide back to it, preventing large amounts of water from leaving the tub or sink.

So, if you thought that golf balls had only one purpose in life, you were gravely mistaken. Repurposing things has always been in the nature of creative human beings. So, if you want to decorate with used golf balls, you can always obtain them in shops that specialize in selling these at lower costs.
