6 Mindfulness Tips: How to Relax and Avoid Stress

Stress, stress, and more stress! This is just what most of us see in our daily life activities. Sadly, most people interpret it as unavoidable. The more your adult responsibilities increase, the more stressed out you will feel. Yes, you can’t stop the bills from coming, or keep the office paperwork from piling up, but you can do a few things to help you deal with these problems in a more constructive manner.

Keeping your body relaxed doesn’t require a trip to the spa every week. In fact, there’s something you can do about it without spending a penny. There are so many simple things you can do to manage stress and relax that you won’t have much trouble adopting some of these good habits.

1. Take deep breaths, & focus on your breathing

Doing some deep breathing for at least 5 to 10 minutes a few times a day as a form of meditation can make a huge difference and provide immediate results. Daily meditation can ease anxiety, as it causes the body to reduce feel-good hormones and helps you keep those negative thoughts at bay. And the best part is, it’s very simple to do. All you have to do is to sit straight on the floor with your eyes closed, slowly inhale and then exhale,  pausing in between breaths, and just focus on your body.

2. Replace unhealthy coping strategies with healthy ones

By practicing stress management, you can avoid some of your habits that cause stress. Do this by listing the things that are stressing you out and writing down the solutions to these issues. That way, you can improve your lifestyle even more by reassessing your priorities, concerns and goals in life, and how they can affect your daily activities, to minimize their contribution to your overall stress levels.

3. Make time for fun & relaxation

A crucial part of relaxing is playing. Why don’t you take a break from adulthood and experience being a child again? Take a trip to the park or have a get-together with your friends. Don’t bury yourself in your work. Live your life the to the fullest. You will be amazed by the happiness you’ll feel, the kind you haven’t felt for a very long time.

4. Tune into your body

Reassessing your life once in a while and celebrating your achievements can make you feel much better. You can get some control over your life back by silencing those negative voices in your head. Yoga is perfect for this kind of relaxation and stress management, as you focus on staying in different positions that require limberness and coordination, clearing your mind of worrisome thoughts.

5. Get yourself up and moving

Another great way to beat stress is by exercising. Plan a daily fitness routine or visit your favorite gym to sweat all your stress away. If by any means you don’t have the time to get fit, doing your household chores or a simple trip to the kitchen to get some coffee can still give your mind a break and distract you from the busy schedule ahead. In addition, moving your body will not only make you feel more alive, but also healthier and sexier than before.

6. Maintain balance with a healthy lifestyle

Keeping yourself healthy is the most important tip for relaxing and fighting off your stress. Monitor your food consumption with a healthy balanced diet to help you get through the day. Avoid caffeine and sugar as much as you can. It is best if you could stop smoking and drinking alcohol to remain level-headed and maintain higher levels of energy that you’ll need when facing all your daily challenges.

7. Give “smart drugs” a try if you have this option

Another way to a healthy lifestyle is to learn about Nootropics, or smart drugs, and how they can help you relax and boost your cognitive thinking. They work by increasing the efficiency of neuronal firing mechanisms in the different parts of our brain, thus making you more alert and focused, and improving your memory.

Aside from its memory enhancement benefits, Nootropic drugs are also known to improve your mood and give you anti-aging benefits as a result of promoting your brain’s health. Usually, these drugs don’t have significant side effects and are non-toxic. However, they aren’t available as an over-the-counter medicine, so consulting a physician for further assessment is still required if you want to get your hands on this smart drug.

These are just some of the little things you can do to relax and reduce the amount of stress in your daily life, but you can also experiment and come up with your own stress-reducing routine.
