AltusHost vs Bluehost – Which Is Better?

There are thousands of options when it comes to the web hosting industry, and this is why it may be hard to choose the right service, as most of them claim to be good, but are in fact just overselling their services. Today, we will talk about two of the most reliable web hosts out there: AltusHost and Bluehost. AltusHost and BlueHost are definitively some of the most affordable web hosting services to be found among the capable companies, so we’ve decided to pit them against each other. Let’s look at what each hosting service has to offer.

About the companies

Young IT Specialist

AltusHost is a web hosting company based in Europe. The company officially started offering services in 2008. They say that their main mission is to provide stable and affordable services. Some key members of the company even claim that they are willing to offer lower prices just to satisfy their customers, adding that it’s all about the clients. Their plan is to profit from long term cooperation with satisfied customers, rather than following the current pricing trends in the web hosting industry.

Bluehost is a much older company. It started in 1996 and, over the years, their service was favored by small and mid-sized business websites, due to stable and reliable services and, of course, low prices. However, the company didn’t hit it off from the very beginning and it was not until 2005 that they started to build their customer base.

Pricing

I’m not going to talk about the actual numbers when it comes to pricing – you can check them on your own at the official websites of these two companies. What is really worth mentioning is that these two providers are the cheapest professional providers who know their business.

Like I’ve said before, these two are the best you can get in this price range and the differences are very small. Some services are a bit cheaper with one provider, while the other is, of course, a bit more expensive. When it comes to choosing between these two, prices are not a factor and one might say that it’s a tie, at least when it comes to overall costs.

Number of customers

The Web Environment

It’s a fact that AltusHost is a fairly young company that has stepped into an already crowded web hosting market. However, the company has made some amazing results during these 7 years that they were in business. At this moment, the company provides hosting services for around 3000 customers and this is not a small number, given the fact that it’s a young company that is still proving its worth. There are few organizations that had the courage to enter this market because the competition is very tough, but the people at AltusHost were able to strive forward and get positive feedback for their work.

Bluehost used to operate with a couple of its sister companies called HostMonster and FastDomain and it had a fairly large number of customers. In 2010, the company and its sister companies were bought by the Endurance International Group and their whole business organization was redesigned. Because of this major acquisition, the company merged into one of the biggest hosting providers, empowering around 2 million sites around the world and expanding their services.

Services

Hosting Website Network

One of the most fascinating things when we talk about AltusHost services is the fact that they are very diverse. This is very untypical for a company of this size, since some bigger web hosts don’t offer the range of the services they do. No matter if you are looking to develop your e-commerce store to its fullest potential, VPS hosting, shared hosting or dedicated hosting they’ve got it all, and in various different packages and price ranges. Furthermore, they offer 24/7 technical support, approaching every client’s problems with the utmost care.

Since it has been bought, Bluehost stopped being a typical shared hosting provider and the company expanded its services to reseller, dedicated hosting and VPS hosting. Bluehost can also provide hosting services for major websites that have a rapid increase in growth.

Both AltusHost and Bluehost have their advantages. If you are looking for a diverse and personal business relationship with your web hosting provider, I suggest AltuHost. With them, you might be able to negotiate special services as they pay a lot of attention to each individual customer. As for Bluehost, you probably won’t be able to get treatment like this, as they have a more corporate-like approach.
