5 Simple and Effective Ways of Preparing for a First Date

So, you got yourself a date! And now what? The first date with a person you really like can be very nerve-wrecking, because you never know how it is going to end, and you think too much about it. You have a chance to make a good first impression and you are feeling nervous and nothing can bring on worse first date jitters than being unsure and unprepared. By being too nervous you will miss a chance to show your real qualities and your charm. The most important thing about first dates and every second date is that you have to be yourself.  Be prepared, but do not overthink it. So, here are a few tips and tricks on how to prepare for your big date without losing a lot of your time and nerves.

  1. Don’t Panic

Consider what kind of relationship you want to have with this person, and if you have any doubts just remember that your date is probably as nervous as you are. Before you go out on your date, you need to chill, and music is a very good mood lifter.  Play your favorite song or music group and just relax. Pets are people’s best friends, so why not groom your pet for a few minutes and your thoughts will get more positive and all the jitters will disappear.

  1. Pick an Outfit

I have nothing to wear! We all say this sometimes. Take a good long look at your wardrobe a day or two before the date, and pick an outfit that will go well with your personality. Do not overdo it – you don’t want to make a bad impression. If you don’t wear dresses or heels, don’t do it on your first date – you won’t feel like yourself.  Wear something that makes you feel attractive, like a favorite blouse or jeans (this will lift your self-confidence).  Also, get rid of all unnecessary things, XXL bag with a sandwich and an umbrella in it, for example.

  1.  Take a Shower

On a first date, you have to make a good impression, and you want to smell nice. Take a shower with your favorite scented body wash and a shampoo that smells nice. Gentlemen should shave and ladies should aim for a natural look with discreet make up. Your smile should sparkle too, so brush your teeth and pack some breath mints because you really don’t want to have bad breath on a first date. At the end, take a mint gum and spray some cologne, but not too much, so your date can breathe.

  1. Think

Prepare a few questions about your date, about her/his job, hobbies, interests, favorite movie or travel destinations. If you are in a restaurant or a bar, you could break the ice by talking about drinks and food which of you prefer. Keep up with popular topics that could be good conversation starters and give your personal opinion on those matters. A very important thing in a conversation with someone is listening – nobody wants to sit all night next to a person that can’t stop talking – he/she will eventually get bored.

  1. Smile

There is no piece of jewelry that can complete your outfit and make you more attractive and natural like your smile. Try to smile most of the time because that makes you seem interested and nice, and try talking about something funny. Try to keep eye contact when talking to your date because your eyes and your smile are your best weapons.  Be confident and relaxed and try sitting close to each other and let chemistry do the work.

Don’t worry, nothing can go perfect, so don’t think too much. Also, the person you are with is probably nervous too. Remember, do not drink too much because that could end badly and you could make a wrong impression. Think positively and enjoy the time spent with someone you like. At the end, the most important thing is to be yourself, nothing can be more honest than that.
