5 Cafés in Barcelona That Are Best to Work In

If you are a freelancer in Barcelona, and you do not feel the need to rent a coworking space, perhaps in some cases, when you are working on a big project, you might feel the urge to get out and about. You are in luck, because there are a lot of amazing cafés in Barcelona where you can work in, that not only have good Wi-Fi and a nice background hum, but there is always someone who will bring you coffee and cake from time to time. We have gathered some of the best places where you can just take your laptop for a stroll. After all, it is much more fun to work in a café than in an office.

Granja Petitbo

The Granja Petit Bo, which you can find in Passeig de Sant Joan, is a buzzing, but not a too buzzing café, and it’s perhaps one of the trendiest daytime spots in Barcelona. If you are all by yourself, then this will become one of your favorite cafés to work in and not just because there is a friendly vibe to this place, but also because they serve amazing carrot cake. This place is also good to visit with some friends or coworkers, but try not to get too distracted.

Mitte

You can find this café in Eixample Dreta, and this place is certainly one of the top cafés in Barcelona to work in. Everything you might need is on hand in this big, modern and still somehow cozy café. There is plenty of space, not that much noise and a fast Wi-Fi connection. This place even has tables where you can have a group discussion.

Various exhibitions on the walls send a creative vibe and clearly state that this place is a hotspot for local freelancers, where you can run into people from your niche and other professional contacts. If you are looking for a perfect beverage while you work, we recommend chocolate and orange flavored tea.

SandwiChez

This is a chain of four different cafés that are located in different parts of Sarría/Sant Gervasi/Les Corts in the north of Barcelona and it is known to be rather businesslike. We prefer the one close to the Maria Cristina metro stop, and if you find yourself in this part of Barcelona, this is a good place to work.

Here, you will find good coffee, food of good quality, peace and quiet, as well as large tables if you are meeting with people or just want to spread your papers and notes all over it. The place is geared up towards the more professional set, meaning that you definitely will not be feeling out of place when you come in with your laptop. It may be a little expensive, but that’s how it is in that part of town.

Hotel Pulitzer

The lounge of Hotel Pulitzer, which you can find on Plaça Catalunya, is a great place to hold mini-meetings, especially if you are in need of something that features a high level of formality, for bringing a new partner or an international client. The Pulitzer even has a rooftop bar, but it can get a little busy, and if it does, you have Hotel Regina next-door, that is a little quieter if the Pulitzer gets too full. But, at the Regina, the Wi-Fi can sometimes be a little slow.

Knella

Knella is a tiny bakery/café located at the bottom of the bohemian district of Gràcia. Even though this is not the most fashionable nor the biggest café, it still deserves your attention. They have nice wooden tables, a lot of light and the smell of freshly baked bread will tingle your senses. This place is cozy, which is kind of surprising for this busy area, and it does not fill up too much. You will get the feel that you are at home away from home, especially with their super friendly staff.
