3 Book Series You Have to Read

Reading is always fun and more rewarding than simply watching TV. Sure, there are plenty of high-quality TV shows available, but nothing will ever replace the experience of holding a book (not those e-readers, even though they are pretty green and cool) and listing through the pages, holding your breath, expecting what will happen next. Now, if you like reading, and you would like to add some fantasy (epic fantasy maybe?) to your life, look no further. We’ve got just the thing for you.

Game of thrones

Currently, this title is more popular because of the TV show airing on HBO, but we are going to focus on the book series that inspired it. Published in 1996, it quickly captured the minds and hearts of its audience with a brutal portrayal of hatred, greed, and envy. It was loved by many, because no one was safe. Actually, the more likable the character was in the books, the more likely it was for him or her to get killed, usually in the most horrifying way. George Martin, the author, became famous as a man who is not afraid to create a world that is similar to this one, where money and power are all that matters and where a happy ending might not come at all. If you were living under a rock, then you can start reading a book – spoiler free. Tip: just don’t get attached to anyone, as George Martin will hear you, and kill them.

Wheel of time

What about if we add a little bit of magic, and then some? Then we have Wheel of Time, a story about power, intrigue and braid pulling. It has one of the best developed magical systems in the history of books. Some special men and women could tap the One Power and use it to channel a special kind of magic into anything they can think of. But the power source has been tainted by the Dark One, only for men, and anyone who uses it will go mad. The main character is Rand al’Thor, the Dragon Reborn, who is probably the strongest male channeled ever. We follow him on his adventures with his friends and enemies, as he tries to remove the Dark One. He also does not want to go mad, but is addicted to the power that may corrupt him.

Harry potter

The boy who lived, and his friends who did most of the work. Not only is this one of the most popular book series ever, but it also created one of the most popular film series ever and gave popularity to Emma Watson, and without her, this world would be a much sadder place. If you had the opportunity to watch the movies, you should now read the books that are much more detailed and complicated than the movies. In his quest to defeat He-who-must-not-be-named (really, the longest title any villain ever had), he goes to a wizarding school and studies (sometimes) magic, but mostly, he likes exploring forbidden corridors and taking long walks through dark forests. He made his author popular and us happy. Spoiler: Snape. Enough said.

This list can go on and on. There are many books that you will absolutely have to read, and these book series should definitely be among them. Now, off you go, and avoid the internet if you don’t want to find out that Dumbledore dies. Oops!
